Youth Resource Development Program (YRDP) recognizes the inherent strength and potential of Cambodia’s young people. Since 1992 YRDP has helped young people harness this strength, to transform a society still healing from the Khmer Rouge genocide; and shape a brighter future for all Cambodians.
Through YRDP training programs, university students learn about human rights; peace building; gender equity; community development; and inter-faith and cross-cultural understanding. Students engage in public dialogue about issues of concern to them, through YRDP projects focusing on the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, climate change, and the management of oil and gas and mining resources in Cambodia, among others. Students, with the support of YRDP, are also encouraged to apply and share their knowledge, by forming volunteer youth clubs and implementing their own community development initiatives in urban and rural areas.
YRDP builds the capacity of young people to question the world around them; and gives them the confidence and the tools they need to create a culture of peace, justice and sustainable development in Cambodia for generations to come.

Welcome to YRDP
The overall objective of YRDP’s programs is to support the development of Cambodian civil society by addressing the lack of critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills among tertiary level students throughout Cambodia. YRDP provides non-formal training and activities that develop young people’s ability to analyze social issues that affect their own situation and the development of their society. YRDP aims to create a learning environment that enables Cambodian youth to actively contribute to civil society and social change by:
1. Developing themselves, including reflecting upon and clarifying their values and future goals; 2. Developing a better understanding of issues within society; 3. Encouraging awareness of the role and responsibility of youth to address issues in their society; 4. Helping young people acquire the knowledge and skills to undertake useful community development activities; 5. Building peace by providing training in critical thinking skills and applying active non-violent approaches to resolving conflict; and 6. Promoting the values that enable youth to become good role models and responsible citizens.
